James Routh is a freelance sound designer with years of experience of creating sound for broadcast drama and documentary.

Until June 2009, James was employed at ITV Studios' Leeds Post Production Sound Department, where he worked on productions such as 'Lost in Austen', 'Wuthering Heights' and 'Heartbeat'. In that time he worked with some great directors and producers and some of them have left testimonials. Prior to that he gained experience of location sound recording with the Production Sound Department. James' client focused attitude has allowed him to form strong relationships with many talented producers and directors on productions for the BBC, ITV and Channel 4.

James is now self employed offering high quality sound design and sound mixing. James offers sound design for documentary, drama and short films as well as other forms of media, such as the internet or for iPhone apps.

James has extensive experience sound editing with Pro Tools, Pyramix and AMS Audiofile. James can operate from his fully portable home studio, running Pro Tools 8 or seamlessly integrate into the Soho theatre of your choice.

Freelance Sound Designer - 'Hollyoaks'

'Hollyoaks' is filmed and post produced at Lime Pictures in Liverpool. Lime Pictures uses Pyramix to edit and mix sound for the show. Pyramix enables very efficient sound editing to keep up with the show's extensive output. James had the pleasure of sound designing for the five episodes which tell the twisted story Newt's suicide attempt. Newt's psychological turmoil called for some fantastic audio sequences.
